Turkey Visa Requirements for Kusadasi Visitors

The quick answer
Many visitors can enter Türkiye without a visa for a short tourist stay, while others need an e-Visa or a visa issued by a Turkish diplomatic mission. The usual maximum for short visits is 90 days in any 180-day period, but some nationalities receive a shorter allowance or must meet additional conditions.
Do not rely on a generic country list. Check the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa information, which explains the rule for each nationality and passport type.
Current examples for ordinary passports
At the time of our August 2026 review, ordinary passport holders from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom could visit visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Ordinary Australian passport holders also became visa-free for tourism and transit from 17 April 2026.
These examples do not cover diplomatic, official, emergency or other special travel documents. British National (Overseas), British Subject and British Protected Person passports also have different rules from a standard British citizen passport.
Do you need an e-Visa?
If your passport is eligible, apply only through the official Türkiye e-Visa website. Select your nationality, travel document and arrival date to see the current conditions and fee. We do not publish a fixed fee because it varies and can change.
Some applicants must hold a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland. Other conditions may also apply. An e-Visa from one of those countries does not count as the supporting document.
Passport validity
Türkiye’s general rule is that your passport or travel document should remain valid for at least 60 days beyond the permitted duration of your visa, e-Visa, visa exemption or residence permit. For a visitor allowed to stay for 90 days, the Ministry gives the example of a passport with at least 150 days of validity on arrival.
There are country-specific and document-specific exceptions, including arrangements that allow some travellers to enter with a national identity card. Check the official rule for your own document rather than relying only on a general six-month recommendation.
Arriving in Kusadasi by cruise ship
Türkiye has a specific seaport rule that is especially relevant in Kuşadası. Foreign cruise passengers arriving by sea may be allowed to visit the port city or nearby provinces without a visa for up to 72 hours, with permission from the local authorities. The permit is for sightseeing near the port, and passengers must leave again through the port where they entered.
If you fly into or out of Türkiye as part of your cruise holiday, the seaport exemption does not replace the normal visa requirement for that flight. Confirm the arrangements with your cruise line before departure, particularly if you use a special travel document or plan to travel beyond the permitted area.
Before you travel
- Check your nationality and passport type on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
- If eligible for an e-Visa, use only evisa.gov.tr and enter your details exactly as shown in your passport.
- Confirm that your passport satisfies the validity rule that applies to your permitted stay.
- Carry details of your accommodation, cruise itinerary or return journey in case border officials request them.
- Check again shortly before departure because entry rules can change.
Staying longer
A visa or visa exemption does not normally permit a stay beyond its stated duration, and short stays cannot exceed 90 days in a 180-day period. Travellers who need to remain longer must investigate an appropriate residence permit through the Presidency of Migration Management. Do not wait until the final day of your permitted stay to seek advice.
