How to Use a Dolmuş in Kusadasi

The important local habit is simple: read the destination displayed on the vehicle and confirm it with the driver instead of trusting an old route list.
Five practical steps
- Find a marked stop where available and signal clearly to the approaching vehicle.
- Read the destination: “Kadınlar Denizi” means Ladies Beach; “Sahil Siteleri” is used for parts of the coastal residential strip.
- Confirm before boarding: say the place name as a question. The driver will tell you if it is the wrong vehicle.
- Pay the current fare: carry Turkish-lira cash and smaller notes. Ask the fare; online prices become obsolete quickly.
- Request your stop: press the button or say “İnecek var” as you approach.

For Selçuk, Ephesus or Şirince, start by checking services from the main otogar. You may need a second vehicle after Selçuk; a town dolmuş does not necessarily take you directly to an attraction entrance.
Etiquette and accessibility
- Move down the vehicle when busy and offer priority seating to someone who needs it.
- Keep bags clear of the aisle and valuables where you can see them.
- Vehicles are not uniformly wheelchair accessible. Ask your hotel or the municipality about a suitable vehicle before relying on a route.
- Allow extra time in summer traffic and when several cruise ships are in port.
